Emma turned ONE!!!!

On July 8th, we couldn't believe it'd already been a year since we welcomed Emma into our lives!  What a year it had been!  Emma was now very profound at crawling while trying to keep up with her big brother and loved to play and explore with anything she could get her hands on!  We called her our little monkey, since she loved to climb up on the couches, tables, chairs, stairs, or anything in her way!  She also loved snuggling her little monkey John gave her when she was born, so we knew a monkey themed birthday party and cake would be perfect!

Before we could even get the doll into the bag, Emma found it and started to play with it the morning of her birthday.  I know, it should have been wrapped long before that, but the moment she saw it, she loved it!  She instantly grabbed the bottle and put it to the baby's mouth, saying "Mmmm, baby!"

She was so proud of feeding baby!

Time to eat...

and a quick family picture....

while Emma eyes the cake....and starts at it with her finger!

From Emma's squeals of delight and look of pure satisfaction, I would say she enjoyed her birthday cake!

Oh, we are going to be in so much trouble when she's 16... check out that wink and expression on that cute little face!

Emma loved helping to open her gifts!   She loved all the books, clothes and especially Elle the elephant, just like John's!  (John was also pleased that now that she had her own, she wouldn't take his anymore....or so he thought!)

I had taken John shopping to pick out a gift for Emma from him.  He chose the picnic basket and said that he thought she would like it.  From the instant she saw it, I think it was her favorite gift!  They played and played with it that night and even now, it is one of the first things she pulls out to play!

It is hard to think of our baby girl as being on her way to 2 years old now, but we know the next year will bring many firsts, which are so much fun to experience!!
